
Feijóo highlights health creation from agriculture

The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, visited this afternoon the facilities of Hifas da Terra in Bora to witness the "business success" and the capacity of Hifas da Terra to create "wealth and health" from agriculture and forest sector; work carried out for 17 with concrete projects focused on chestnut recovery and biomedical innovation developing products oriented to the improvement of people's quality of life.
Feijóo valued the idea of the company indicating that Hifas gives Terra bases its products on the weather, on the ground and on the Galician landscape. "I am convinced that, as they know each other, they will give us a march of land and innovation," he added.
In this sense, the general director of the company and biologist, Catalina Fernández de Ana, thanked the support of the Xunta de Galicia in the financing of the R&D activity to be able to "show the world more and more competitive, ecological and quality products, but also to" protect the health of Mount Gallego and people. "
The visit to Bora, to which Núñez Feijóo came accompanied by the vice president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, and the territorial delegate of the Xunta in Pontevedra, José Manuel Cors Tourís, began with the formal presentation of the company and the products it offers in seven international markets. The guests attended with special attention to the presentation of the new product line (nutraceutics in roads and creams) oriented to the care of the cancer patient, which they could try for themselves.
Biomedicine
As explained by the Director of Strategic Planning, also the Biologist Esteban Sonde Stompel, the wealth of biotechnology lies in the "ability to concentrate the active ingredients of 40 capsules in two roads" that will fulfill the effective and daily therapeutic dose that will contribute to the improvement of the patient through the nutrients that the fungi provides.
For his part, the R&D director, Dr. Fernández de Ana Magán, stressed that Hifas da Terra has an its own strain bank that marks the starting point of the cultivation of fungal species with demonstrated activity on health.
Forestry sector
The president of the Xunta was also interested in knowing the activity of Hifas da Terra in the recovery of abandoned soutos. Feijóo thanked that Hifas da Terra was based on the past to inspire the future and advanced that the company's knowledge will be used in this area to launch new projects that have to do with the forestry sector.
After finishing the visit for the facilities, in which the laboratories, the areas of production and packaging of ecological mushrooms and offices, the president of the Xunta qualified Hifas Da Terra as "one of the leading companies in the biotechnology sector." In this regard, he announced that in the coming weeks the Xunta de Galicia will present the strategy to support biotechnology based on three axes: support for research and technological transfer, business training and consolidation and sector dynamization through mechanisms such as innovative public purchase.
