What is ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), sometimes called 'winter cherry', is a plant traditionally used in Ayurveda, India's traditional system. Its root contains compounds called withanolides, and it is one of the most researched botanicals today, with more than 1,900 scientific papers listed on PubMed.

What does research look at?

Scientists are studying ashwagandha root extracts in relation to stress, sleep and wellbeing in adults. Research is ongoing and there are currently no authorised health claims for ashwagandha in Great Britain.

KSM-66 ashwagandha

KSM-66 is a branded ashwagandha root extract standardised to contain at least 5% withanolides. It is made only from the root, whereas some other extracts also use leaves.

Safety

Ashwagandha is not suitable for everyone. Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a thyroid or liver condition, an autoimmune condition, or are taking medication – speak to your GP or pharmacist first. Always follow the recommended daily intake on the label.

Hifas-Menopause

Hifas-Menopause combines organic Reishi, Lion's Mane and Cordyceps with KSM-66 ashwagandha root extract, green tea extract, live cultures, vitamins B6 and D and zinc. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and to normal psychological function.
