If you like mushrooms – and Shiitake in particular – here is a very simple recipe you'll love. Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is one of the most widely eaten mushrooms in the world: a delicious food that is low in calories and a source of fibre.
Ingredients
- 500 g fresh organic Shiitake
- Olive oil
- Salt
Method
- Place the whole Shiitake caps, top side down, in a hot pan or griddle with a little olive oil and cook for about 5 minutes until golden.
- Sprinkle with salt so it falls between the gills, and continue cooking over a medium heat.
- Turn them over and cook until the gills are done.
Serve hot as a tapa or a side dish. Enjoy!
